Improving mental health through enhancing social life can be highly beneficial. As Human beings, we can invest time in relationships that are supportive and positive. Surround ourselves with people who uplift and understand us. We can achieve this by focusing on creating meaningful connections rather than a large number of acquaintances. We can join, create or find groups that match our interests, such as book clubs, sports teams, or hobby groups. This can help us meet like-minded people and develop new friendships. Helping others can improve our moods and reduce stress. Volunteering can offer us the opportunity to meet new people and expand our social network. When engaging with others, let us learn to focus on listening and showing genuine interest in their thoughts and feelings because it fosters deeper connections. Sometimes it is rejuvenating to attend community events, workshops, or social gatherings because participating in these activities can help us feel more connected to our communities. I have also learnt that use of technology to maintain relationships, especially if distance is a barrier is very important. Once in a while we can video call our love ones, message them, and cruck jokes in social media. All these can help us stay in touch with friends and families. While socializing is important, it's also crucial to set boundaries to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Let us learn how to balance our social lives with personal time for self-care. Last but not least, if we're struggling with social anxiety or other challenges that affect our social lives, let us all consider to seek help from a therapist or counsellor.
